The South African Film & Publication Act regulations are up for public comment until 17 August 2020 (today)

[The following comments were received from the ChristianView Network]

THE FILM & PUBLICATION ACT REGULATIONS ARE UP FOR PUBLIC COMMENT TO 17
AUGUST 2020 (today)

The Film and Publications Act Regulations, which may affect broadcasting and internet free speech rights.  Part of the motivation of the Regulations we support, namely to reduce child pornography, revenge porn and the risk children are exposed to pornography on the internet.  Preliminary comment is that the regulations attempt to regulate entire internet in a manner which appears to require anything published on the internet to first be rated by the Film and Publications Board (FPB)(unless it falls under the Advertising Standards Authority or the Press Council) or the company is registered with the FPB to do self-regulation.  Either the internet will have to shut down or it won't be enforced most of the time.  The broad hate speech definition copied from the Act is in conflict with the Supreme Court of Appeal Constitutional findings on the Qwelane case.  We are still studying the regulations and have asked for an extension of time and clarification on its meaning.

https://www.fpb.org.za/about/legislation/

Please email the Minister of Communications Ms Stella Tembisa Ndabeni-Abrahams ministry@dtps.gov.za to ask for an extension of time for yourself and/or a general extension.

To send your comment on the regulations email clientsupport@fpb.org.za.

Rape: Identity of a nation

rapeidentity

South Africa, as the rape capital of the world once again shows why that is the case.

Just recently a 5 year old girl was raped at her school. . . , by three 7 year old boys! I know! You are probably shocked and rightly so! Should we surprised that something like this could happen in this country! No! If you are surprised then you have been living under a rock! Boys of 7 don’t learn to act like this in a vacuum. They learn this from what they see and hear.

Our nation truly is in a steep perverted decline and no-one seems to care! It is an environment created by the liberal policies of the ANC with regard to pornography and the death penalty. Murderers and rapists, if they are ever caught, get to live in our prisons at our expense. We, as the citizens of this country, become victims by proxy of these violent crimes when we have to keep on paying to house these criminals for many years. By 2010, South Africa had 132 rapes per 100,000 people. That put us at 40 rapes above the country second on the list of countries with the most rapes per capita. The U.S.A. were at only 27 rapes per 100,000.

It is time South Africa does something about this epidemic of Gomorrhic proportions. We can start by putting a stop to pornography in this country. Scores of rapes have been preceded in the hours before the crime by the viewing of pornography. We can start by educating ourselves, and this we can do by reading a book like PORNDEMIC: How the Pornography Plague Affects You and What You can Do About It.

Nelson Mandela (1918-2013): An Imperfect Hero

ComicHeroesNormally, when most people think of heroes, they think of Superman, Ironman, Thor, Spider-Man, Captain America, Batman and many more. First, these heroes don’t die. They were conjured up in the minds of people and as long as people are willing to conjure up more stories about these heroes, they will live on. Second, these heroes do not exist. We do not have a Man of Steel flying around with people saying: “Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it is Superman!”

Some of these super-heroes have made some real memorable quotes, as non-existent heroes.

"In this world, there is right and there is wrong, and that distinction is not difficult to make." (Superman – D.C. Comics)

"Wars are never won, regardless of who might be the victor. The very act of war is itself a horrible defeat." (Green Lantern – D.C. Comics)

“What do you think the A stands for? France?” (Captain America – Marvel Comics)

ANC speaks through both sides of its mouth

anc-two-headed-monsterOver the many years of the ANC’s existence—100 years in 2012—we have now learnt with great clarity that the ANC will change strategies and policies as the circumstances demand, whatever their end-goal is!

The case in point is that several months ago, Julius Malema and his Pied Piper mice wanted to charge into Botswana to “help establish” a regime change in that country. With great fanfare the ANC chastised him and ANCYL for bringing the ANC into disrepute.

Of course, the ANC has a long-standing disrepute that all clear thinking people can clearly see and understand, since the ANC regularly rams controversial laws through parliament when they perceive resistance to their proposed laws. This was clearly the case with abortion on demand, legalised pornography, legalised same-sex whatever-it-is-but-it-is-not-marriage and now lately the secrecy bill. With each of these bills, the ANC simply rammed them through parliament, while not listening at all to what people were saying in consultation with the government. In fact, with each of these votes in parliament, ANC Members of Parliament (MPs) had no right to a vote of conscience. They were told what to vote! Democracy has no meaning to this monster!

Defend and protect the family–Stop TopTV porn!

Television companies are going full-out to corrupt the minds of people by pushing for pornography on their channels. e-TV has taken porn from their offering quite recently after many people complained about their late night transmission of porn (I hope it is still off!). Next came DSTV who also wanted to create a porn channel on their bouquet of offerings. After many complaints they also decided not to go ahead with this imbecilic idea! Now, TopTV, after claiming in their launch last year that they will keep their offerings clean, have succumbed to the smut-sells idea and want to add porn channels to their offering. The message we have is clear!

STOP PORN-TV IN SOUTH AFRICA!

The march on e-TV against pornography

My plan on the morning of the march, 21 May 2011, was to leave home one hour and fifteen minutes before the start of the events surrounding the march. The reason for leaving so long before the time is that "they" are still working on the N1 highway between Pretoria and Johannesburg, and if anything goes wrong on that highway, we would have to sit in traffic for a long time!

It just so happens that they had lane closures on the N1 and we did get to sit in very slow traffic for just over 2Kms. That doesn't sound so bad, but the fact is that it almost made us late for the 10:00 start! Well, God saw it fit to get us to Hyde Park Shopping Centre with about 5 minutes to spare! I had decided to take my camera along and play cameraman.

When we arrived there, there were only about 30-40 people there. I had such high hopes for this march. It was an opportunity for Christians and concerned citizens to stand up for what is right! What we do and stand for today, has an effect on the world that our children will one day inherit from us! The question is: What kind of a world are you fighting for them to inherit? A no-care attitude today will ensure a disastrous future-world for our children tomorrow! I was hoping for a couple of thousand people to march today, or at least 1,000. It was not to be! The final tally of marchers only came to between 80-100! After the march I gave ACA a call in Cape Town, as they were doing a march to the Cape Town offices of e-TV at the same time, to find out how many marchers participated there, and they had around 150! This is such a shame, especially if the fact that 75% of South Africans claim to be Christian is taken into account! Christians that want to sit on their deriers and have a good time, I am sure, but not Christians who would rise in society as the salt of the earth!

ACTION: South African E-TV continues to push porn

stop_e-tvAs Christians we need to be concerned when evil takes over our country, especially via the airwaves. It is in the minds of people that the battle is either won or lost! When it comes to images, most often, words just cannot compete. This is why pornography is so quick to enslave its viewers, almost never to let go of those people.

E-TV is continually at the forefront of degrading women, defending their stance without a hint of blushing! E-TV has shown itself to be the hand-maiden of the devil when it comes to spreading filth, while claiming it is a free-speech right.

You, the viewers can put a stop to it, if you dare! Do not live in a dream world in which you think someone else will fight this battle for you! If you think like this, you are gravely mistaken, living in la-la land! It is you, and you, and you who need to fight and win these battles, NOT, them, and them, and them!

To reiterate Edmund Burke’s quote, mentioned below:

“All that is necessary for evil to prosper is that good people do nothing.”

That’s right, while we sit and do nothing, evil grows like a sickening, deformed cancer all over our country!

So, please take some time to write to these people at E-TV mentioned by Errol Naidoo of FPI in his Action Alert below. Seriously, it will not kill you, and it certainly won’t lessen you as a human being. In fact, maybe it will build some more courage into the fibre of your being!

I know YOU can do it!

South Africa says "NO!" to porn channel: DSTV obliges!

Great news! DSTV has listened to South Africa in its survey on whether to launch a 24-hour porn channel or not. DSTV announced that it will not introduce such a channel since a significant amount of South Africans have spoken out against the possibility of DSTV starting such a channel.

Thank you to DSTV for listening to the moral voice of South Africa!

Obama and change: what an oxymoron!

Obama keeps talking about change. He is going to bring change, he says!

When people say stuff like that it makes me think. What change does Obama mean?

In his acceptance speech as the Democratic nomination to fight for the presidency of the U.S. he says:

"Ours -- ours is a promise that says government cannot solve all our problems, but what it should do is that which we cannot do for ourselves: protect us from harm and provide every child a decent education; keep our water clean and our toys safe; invest in new schools, and new roads, and science, and technology."
"Protect us from harm?" Does he really mean it? How can he? This man stands for the wholesale slaughter of little babies in their mothers' wombs, and then calls it by the killers' commonly used euphemism, "choice!" Whose choice? Certainly not the baby's choice! And, why kill the baby when the mother couldn't keep her panties up and the father couldn't keep his pants zipped? Is this justice? Probably not a concept that Obama understands. Oh yes, he doesn't want his daughter to be inconvenienced the rest of her life with a "mistake!" "Kill the baby, you only made a mistake." This is what Obama stands for. Change? No way!

Obama is a typical Democrat. A big government that interferes with everything. It is a cult of the state. The state becomes the solution to everything. And since the state is the solution to everything, everyone within that state must line up with the policies, laws and thought patterns of the state. These thought patterns will be prescribed by the state, and will eventually limit free speech to all dissenters (read "Christians").

Obama will not bring true change. He is a strong supporter of the homosexual lifestyle and even wants to make it lawful for them to marry. Once it becomes lawful for homosexuals to marry, it will inevitably become unlawful to voice dissent to that law and their deviant lifestyles, and Obama's friends, the homosexuals, will make sure that they get special protection under the law.

So, what change does Obama want to bring? He claims that his plans will bring affluence to all, while Jesus said that we will always have the poor with us. The problem with Obama's plans is that they may bring affluence, technological advance and more education (read "indoctrination"), but they will eventually steer the U.S. to complete moral bankcruptcy.

When a culture of death (abortion, euthanasia, etc) and of moral deviancy and degeneracy (homosexuality, bestiality, etc) is being created, then no matter what material advances are being made, a nation will eventually self-destruct.

(12) A worthless person, a wicked man, goes about with crooked speech, (13) winks with his eyes, signals with his feet, points with his finger, (14) with perverted heart devises evil, continually sowing discord; (15) therefore calamity will come upon him suddenly; in a moment he will be broken beyond healing.
Pro 6:12-15 ESV

Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.
Pro 11:21 ESV

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.
Pro 14:34 ESV

Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
Gal 6:7 ESV

America has exalted sin in its midst now for a very long time. Its list of sins being exalted grows by the day. Some of these are pornography, abortion, homosexuality and many more.

If America does not put a halt to this soon, reversing the course, its ascendancy will quickly become a descent into oblivion and meaninglessness.

All I can say to the U.S. is, "Repent! And believe in the Lord Jesus!"

WikiPedia or WikiPornia?

WND shines light on WikiPedia! That is the question!

Probably under the guise of "neutrality" and that it is an "encyclopaedia," WikiPedia WikiPornia, is punting all kinds of deviant sexual "information" that is very explicit.

In a WorldNetDaily article called Is Wikipedia wicked porn?, this so-called sexual "research" material on WikiPornia is written about as follows:

"One Wikipedia entry states, 'A fluffer is a hired member of the crew of a pornographic movie whose role on the set is to sexually arouse the male participants prior to the filming of scenes requiring erections.'

A photo of two nude men having anal sex on a bed, and a 'fluffer' handing them a towel, is shown to the right of the entry."

The article also says:
"The site even boasts a 'porn star' award template for 'outstanding contributions to pornography articles on Wikipedia,' awarded by Wikipedia: WikiProject Pornography."
According to WorldNetDaily, Jay Walsh, head of communications for the Wikimedia foundation, claimed that they do not censor any of their content. That is categorically false! Read this.

Sex in new video game

Entertainment gurus, from TV to video games, seem to always have this immoral bent that seem to push them to further push the boundaries of morality in their entertainment genres.

The opening paragraph of a news report at Cybercast News Service tells it all:

"A new, best-selling video game, Mass Effect, made for the Microsoft Xbox 360 console, allows the characters to engage in explicitly graphic sexual intercourse. Some game experts and pro-family analysts say Mass Effect is marketed to young kids and presents a moral danger to them and that the companies making and marketing the game should be prosecuted."

AFTAH on FOX about Folsom (depravity) Fair

WARNING: Not for children. This story points to pictures of great depravity!

Americans for Truth about Homosexuality (AFTAH) president, Peter LaBarbera, appeared on Hannity & Colmes on FOX News about the disgustingly depraved Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco, where the most vile acts were committed on the streets in public view!

Here is the interview at You Tube. Nudity has been covered, but you will definitely get the idea of what was going on.

Here is the original photo story about the Folsom Fair that AFTAH reported. What happened here is totally disgusting, and if Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, does not speak out against this, it would be absolutely clear that she and her Democratic Party are in favour of this depravity.

Protest and Prayer Against e-TV Porn Held Outside e-TV Studios

e-TV has long been one of the strongest purveyors of porn on television. Simply wait for late Friday or Saturday nights, and this vile filth will come into your home via e-TV's channel.

If you are concerned about the morals of this nation and the steep downgrade that is currently in full swing, then do something about!

I received the following email from Christian Action, and thought that more people needed to read it and act on it.

Protest and Prayer Against e-TV Porn Held Outside e-TV Studios

Members of Africa Christian Action, Christians for Truth and several other missions organisations and churches protested and prayed outside the e-TV Studios in Cape Town, on Saturday, (14 July 2007).

With placards such as “Porn is Anti-family”, “Pornography exploits women”, “Porn fuels sex crimes”, “Women deserve real protection and respect – Ban Porn, Execute Rapists”, and “E-nough, Remove Porn from e-TV”, participants drew some interested onlookers and were able to distribute Finding Freedom from Pornography leaflets and Gospel tracts to passers by.

The protest led to media opportunities for Christian Action Co-ordinator, Taryn Hodgson, to speak on radio talk shows, including national secular radio station SA FM and other short interviews for radio news slots and daily newspapers.

We praise God for the opportunity to use this issue as a springboard for talking about the havoc pornography is wreaking on South Africa and the importance of strengthening our families according to God’s Word.

One of the callers to the SA FM talk show complained that we were just aiming for a “soft target” that won’t “really effect the morals of this nation”. My reply was that yes, this is a soft target and that is exactly why we are targeting them. This is a reachable, tangible goal if we all pull together. When God, by His grace, grants us the victory, it will be an encouragement to tackle the pornography plague in other spheres.

We received a response to our letter to the e-TV director, in which e-TV denied the link between pornography and sexual abuse.

In their letter e-TV’s Regulatory Affairs Executive Officer Olefile Bop Tshweu, said “We submit that in broadcasting these films the timeslot is appropriate, the warnings are adequate, the content does not breach the Code and there is no evidence that these films contribute to sexual crimes.”

e-TV contends that their programmes are “soft-core porn” and therefore are not harmful.

Even so-called soft core pornography, however, has been shown to fuel sexual abuse. It desensitizes the viewer by objectifying the women. This can lead to addiction and a desire to view more hard-core material.

Porn on free-to-air national TV is outrageous. There are many parentless homes in South Africa and many homes where children are not supervised as to what TV they are watching. R18 restrictions are not enough to prevent children from watching these films.

We have in our hands testimonies from Safeline and Teddy Bear Clinic counselors who have counseled children who have sexually abused other children. They say that many of the children they have counseled say they have watched the Emanuelle porn films on e-TV.

Shaheda Omar, therapeutic manager at Teddy Bear Clinic in Johannesburg, has interviewed 100 child sex offenders and their mothers from across the social spectrum for her doctoral research project at Johannesburg University. In most cases she found that absent parents and “unmet emotional needs” had turned television into a “surrogate care-giver” with disastrous consequences. While some children claimed they had wanted to emulate love scenes in soap operas like the Bold and the Beautiful, others said they had been inspired by late night pornography on e-TV (Cape Times, Child on Child Violence Out of Control, 22 October 2006).

We cannot believe that e-TV feels no sense of social responsibility for the harm they are causing. Considering that South Africa has some of the highest rape statistics in the world and one of the highest HIV prevalence rates, can e-TV (and other broadcasters) afford to be contributing to these disastrous statistics through the negative sexual grooming of children and adults in this nation?

Pornography degrades and exploits people made in the image of God. Pornography is the theory, rape is the practise. We need to honour women by giving them real protection and respect. We need to ban pornography and execute rapists. We need to let children be children.

We urge advertisers who are currently advertising during these films to discontinue advertising during these exploitative films. We also urge people to boycott their products.

Other protests and prayer meetings outside the e-TV studios in Durban, Bloemfontein and Johannesburg are planned during July and August.

What You Can Do:

1. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper, while the issue is still in the public eye.

2. Email your concerns to e-TV and request that all pornographic films or programmes be completely removed from all future broadcasts. Copy all letters to ICASA and the Broadcasting Complaints Commission (this helps them to gauge public opinion).

ICASA: info@icasa.org.za
BCCSA: bccsa@nabsa.co.za
e-TV: info@etv.co.za.

Phone the e-TV National Office in Johannesburg and ask to speak to the director. Request a meeting to share your objections to these programmes as a concerned parent or citizen. Tel: 011-537 9300.

3. If you live in Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Durban, or Port Elizabeth you can also demonstrate and/or pray out side the e-TV studios/offices. Please let us know if you are interested in organizing a similar prayer meeting or demonstration. Contact us for appropriate literature to distribute or for suggested slogans for posters.

4. Pray that God would move the hearts of the e-TV directors to remove these offensive pornographic programmes from their channel. Pray that more churches would get involved in discipling their congregations in finding freedom from sexual addictions and mobilizing their members to combat the pornography plague.
